We’re Timothy and Melissa Eloe, married since 1987 and passionate about building beautiful marriages. I’m choleric—opinionated and strong-willed—while Melissa is  sanguine, with an empath’s heart that radiates love. Early in our marriage, my overbearing attitude caused plenty of friction. I’d shout, letting my temper flare, while Melissa stayed steady, her gentle spirit a quiet contrast. We weren’t perfect—still aren’t—but we’ve always longed for a beautiful marriage. By God’s grace, I always saw my mistakes after the storm passed—and I always apologized—but seldom did I have the wisdom or self-control to prevent the arguments from happening in the first place.

One bad argument pushed me to a breaking point. I stormed off to Barnes & Noble, yanked every marriage book off the shelf, and spent hours skimming for a lifeline, coming home with four that sparked hope. From that moment, we became students of marriage—diving into books, soaking up blogs, videos, and websites. More importantly we begged for God’s Grace to have a beautiful marriage.

Now, as certified Love & Respect Marriage Coaches, we strive to live those principles every day. Through it all, we continue to be blessed with a powerful marriage—a gift we can’t keep to ourselves.
